hi all! given recent events and for the sake of my mental health, I am taking a break from social media for a while. as a queer owned business, it doesn’t feel great to advertise on platforms that do not support me / my community / the people I care deeply about. see the post for more details on how to stay in touch while I figure out my next steps! don’t worry, I’ll be baking during this time - treats won’t stop at 4th Ave Deli or Exo, and I am available for some custom orders. please take care of yourself and others and we will be in touch soon!

still have some extra candy around and looking for a cloudy day baking project? this is the perfect recipe! (if you don’t have a scale there are online conversion calculators you can use 🫶)

1 cup softened salted butter
150g sugar
100g brown sugar
1 egg (room temp)
2 tsp vanilla extract or paste
2 tbs milk
284g flour
1 tbs cornstarch
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2c peanut m&ms (candy 1)
1/2c marshmallows (candy 2)
1/4c crushed popcorn (something salty)
(swap the mix ins out for whatever you have! have fun!)

combine butter and sugars. scrape down sides of bowl. add egg vanilla and milk. combine. combine dry ingredients in other bowl. measure mix ins in another bowl + coat them in first half of your dry mix. add the second half of the dry mix into the butter sugar egg situation, combine, then add second half of dry mix to your main bowl. mix until just combined. scoop into however many cookies your heart desires (I used a yellow kitchen scoop?) and freeze them for as long as you can handle (at least an hour). bake at 360 F and check on them after 7 minutes. you can reshape them by using a glass and pushing in the sides (I’m sure there are videos that can show you this technique if you google it). bake them until desired doneness (for me that’s about 3 more minutes)! enjoy. (turns out writing a recipe is much harder than anticipated, let me know if any of you try this!! swipe to the end to see the way I write recipes for myself 😅)

this vegan / gluten free coffee cake for @celestia.collective opening weekend made me so excited for fall! this coffee cake had cinnamon, cardamom and ginger in it and was absolutely gooey and delicious. what other items are you looking forward to as autumn approaches?

it’s very rare that I get to bake just for fun these days but luckily @bucketlistbakeclub always reminds me to slow down and play. this month’s bake is a tres leches cake - coffee cake, malted milk powder soak and whip topped with whoppers. I was inspired by @ibakemistakes and their current tik tok series on recipe adaptation. I found a recipe and changed one thing in each component to make it my own - first steeping the milk with coffee grounds in the cake for a coffee based cake, then adding malted chocolate powder to the milk mixture and adding just a touch to the whipped cream as well. crushed some whoppers for the top and honestly couldn’t be happier with how this turned out!
